What is a production, and when should I use one?

A production turns raw materials into a finished item. Use it when you make something rather than buying it ready to sell.

Record the materials consumed and the finished goods produced. Trabalance reduces the raw material quantities, increases the finished item, and carries the cost of the materials into the cost of what you made.

Add overheads to the production if labour or other costs should form part of the finished item's cost. Those costs are included in its value rather than being expensed separately.

Use an adjustment instead when quantities change without anything being made, such as breakage or a stock count correction.
