What are centers, and when should I use them?

A center is a branch, shop, warehouse or site. Use centers when the same business trades from more than one physical location and you want stock, sales and reporting separated by location.

Every document belongs to a center. Stock is held per center, prices can differ per center, and reports can be filtered to one center or consolidated.

A center is either Active or Inactive. Inactive centers disappear from every picker, dropdown and point of sale catalog, so deactivating one stops staff selecting it by mistake without deleting its history.

If you set up centers after you started trading, existing documents stay where they are. Set the center on new documents from the date you switch.
